Getting to Know Lliria

Lliria town hall has just put out a new video promoting the town. They have missed a little trick by not having a subtitled version to attract expats but it gives a good vision of the town and you should take a look just to se the Roman ruins, the old fort, the museums and traditions of the town. 22 minutes in Spanish so get a coffee and sit back.

Spain is Different For The Fifth Time

I have released the latest issue of the Spain is Different Magazine to subscribers. Two problems came up. It was due to go out last night but I timed it wrong and that is a good job too because, secondly, I put the wrong link in too! So rather than reading about another way to make a tortilla, the vintage train in Mallorca, Mourinho and Madrid and a match made in hell, money saving tips from Maxine Raynor, short snippets of Spanish oddities, economic news, and an editorial about the battle for the soul of Spain people were reading about an attic flat in Valencia! Mea culpa.

This villa for sale in Campoamor has been educed from €150,000 to €95,000 in January. This very well presented 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom detached villa is situated very close to Campoamor golf course and is only a few minutes drive to the beach. The property is located on a corner plot and comprises of a covered entrance porch, large lounge/diner, kitchen, double bedroom and a cloakroom on the ground level. Upstairs there is a family bathroom and two double bedrooms, the master having a large balcony.

Who Is Buying Property in Spain at the Moment?

I just thought you might like to know who is buying property in Spain at the moment. The reason I wanted to do this is that I placed a comment in an article on the Daily Telegraph about Ireland. Everyone started having a downer on Spain and the other, so called PIIGS, so I thought I would defend the country a little by stating facts rather than opinions from internet warriors probably still living in their mum’s houses. ;-)

The Law Of The Stupid. NIE Numbers in Spain

There are a lot of unsold houses for sale in Spain. You would think that the government would be trying to encourage sales to foreigners in every way they can in order to buy this surplus and maintain investment in Spain at higher levels than would otherwise be the case.

You would be wrong.

Spain has just introduced a change to the way that people apply for and get the NIE tax numbers which directly affects all foreigners coming into the country, wanting to invest here in the majority of cases.

What About the Pound Versus The Euro?

If you are living in the UK and earning pounds now is the best time to buy in Spain since October 2008. It was then that the UK government at the time effectively devalued the currency and overnight (Well in a period of a month) the pound went from €1.50 to €1.06. This made property in Spain immediately more expensive at a time when prices were still really high having reached their peak in 2007.

The New Kindle Fire, Sponsoring a Child and a Good Meal Out

In 2011 we gave an iPad away to all people who bought a property from Valencia Property, except to those who already had one. Next year we have decided to change the offer. In view of the fact that Valencia now has its own Apple Store (On the corner of Calle Colón and Calle Lauria in the centre in case you didn’t know) you can now get there to get your own iPad and enjoy the experience of buying and using it. This year the change of offer involves three things.

Areas To Live In Valencia: The Carmen

Valencia is often described as a city made up of a lot of villages. The truth is that is what it really is. Each area has its own centre and many of them have their own history that makes it unique. So in the first of this occasional series I am going to tell you about The Carmen area in Valencia.

Historically the Carmen is the old medieval centre of Valencia.
