When I was planning the Audiobook series there was one thing I wanted to get really clear and prepare people for:
Spain is different but at the same time it is the same.
Spain is not the imagined paradise where all your troubles fade away and the sangría and siestas last all day, and even if it were how long would you take to get bored of that? Your personality will accompany you and your character and actions will determine your results much more than external circumstances. What does this mean for you on coming to Spain? Well, as the saying goes, if you do the same things you have always done, then you will get the same results.
Spain is a reality. Spain has an economic crisis and the interviewees all talk eloquently about how that is affecting the areas of Spain they are living in and in many cases their own businesses. Spain need not be a great trauma for those who come to live here but for those of you who come unprepared it often is. If you fail to plan then you obviously plan to fail. These Audiobooks try to make sure that you come here prepared and ready to roll.
One of the things I like about the 16 interviews is that there is a positivity and “can do” attitude that shines through in most, if not all. Stumbling blocks and hurdles come up and current situations are determined by decisions made in the past as a reaction to events. Not everyone had the plan worked out but most managed to have the flexibility to get around the hurdles or even just plough through them.
In the monologue I do, the “Estate Agent Confessions” I just thought it time to open up the Pandora’s Box of agent tricks that I have seen over the years to prise even more money out of the hands of potential house buyers. The idea of this audiobook is to save you a lot of money and hopefully what money you have will be well spent with my company of course
